Luxury car without a luxury price tag!
By Matt | on Thursday, February 10, 2022
The 2021 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring genuinely seems like a luxury car. The technology is above it’s class, the rotary dial to use the infotainment is absolutely great and I wish every manufacturer did this but it seems that most car manufacturers are going away from it. The heads up display is very functional and it is nice to have. The speedometer is digital however it is clean and sophisticated compared to other digital speedometers that cram in so much information into the tachometer screen. The materials used in the interior are very nice and makes it seem like a German luxury car inside. I am a huge fan of the exterior paint jobs that Mazda offers, their soul red crystal is the best paint job in the industry and their white is pretty nice as well. The interior cabin is spacious. The ride quality is decent; to me, all cars in this class pretty much drive the absolute same. Mazda offers plenty of safety features which is nice, however I would like for their adaptive cruise control to have lane centering in conjunction with adaptive cruise like a lot of other car brands like Hyundai or Kia. But instead it just keeps you a distance away from the car in front and you have to steer yourself. From what I understand it is available however it is only on the signature trim which is a lot more money than the Grand Touring package with just 2 more features.. They should have just offered the 2 features on the Grand Touring and not made the Signature trim. The rear heated seat buttons are hidden in the cup holder/armrest compartment which should have been rethought and moved elsewhere.. Maybe the door perhaps or under the climate control vents. I would like to see Mazda have parking sensors standard instead of an option. Would also love if Mazda incorporated ambient lighting in their cars. and their really nice 360 camera (which is only on signature trim) on other trims. The biggest competitors to the CX-5 consist of the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Volkswagen Tiguan and Nissan Rogue. With the Toyota RAV4, you have to pay more money for more features whereas in the Mazda, a lot of options come standard depending on the trim. The RAV4’s interior also just feels cheap and not as nice as the Mazda’s. The Honda CR-V is just boring compared to the CX-5 and the infotainment is way too basic, and in my opinion the CR-V looks weird. The Nissan Rogue is alright but it just isn’t as elegant as the CX-5, but it is better than the RAV4 and the CR-V. The VW Tiguan is a little pricey and it’s seats are uncomfortable for distances over 4+ hours, they’re stiff and not that configurable. Overall, the CX-5 stands out in its class. It is elegant and classy compared to its competitors. The reliability is outstanding and the Mazda brand actually placed 2nd in most reliable cars of 2021, outdoing Toyota who placed in 3rd most reliable.… - 5.0
Great vehicle as usual from Mazda!
By hotrodsrj | on Sunday, February 06, 2022
I've owned 13 Mazdas of differing flavors... and the CX 5 is fantastic! I bought this car to run 200K miles new (our last one running 185K before selling)! We also have a CX 9 as well. Never had a Mazda back to the dealer for anything other than regular maintenance. Great road car the the stereo is the bomb!… - 5.0
Love my Turbo
By Malice | on Friday, February 18, 2022
Although the interior has less bells and whistles then a CX-9 and is smaller it still has the perfect sporty feel. Not intimidating or pompous in what it can do but reliable in all spec’s. The engine alone has amazing speed and the turbo equally rivals some other competitors. The carbon edition has a slight flare to the interior that makes it unique. The backseat although more compact then other suv doesn’t take away from the overall experience. For a two family vehicle it’s perfect and the trunk space easily fits 4 60L hiking packs or with seats down two bikes. I love my turbo and I have never spent more then $37 to fill it up from empty.…
